Juliet Wheal

About Me

Hello, I am Juliet Wheal. I have been a primary school teacher in South East London for over twenty five years.

I specialise in pupils' social, emotional, and mental well-being to facilitate their development and simply love seeing children thrive. Wheal Education Ltd was formed so I could more effectively champion my vision for education.

I am an expert in securing foundations in English and Mathematics at all primary levels in order for children to advance through their education with confidence.

I have led the English curriculum for schools and taught all curriculum subjects, including learning how to improve learning!

When I am not reading, listening to podcasts or having a chat I enjoy a spot of TV with my husband and my cat.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Juliet, not only for the quality of maths tuition but also as a provider of support to our 10-year-old. Dasha is genuinely enthusiastic about her tuition sessions and actively looks forward to them, to the extent she wanted one on her birthday! We are very happy with Dasha’s progress and her newfound enthusiasm for maths.

Juliet taught my daughter in year two. In the July of that year, at the tender age of just six, she lost her dad after a long battle with cancer. Juliet was there for her when she returned in the September, and from the very beginning, she created the perfect environment for her to learn and grieve in equal measures. I will always be so grateful to Juliet for the love, support and energy she invested in my daughter. She gave her the space to grow, to thrive, and to find out who she was with no pressure at all. She blossomed that year, and I have no hesitation to say that she is the confident, intelligent teenager she is today, about to embark on her GCSE’s, because one teacher took the time to stop, think about what my daughter needed, and give her the love that she really needed. One of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of entrusting my daughter to. Thank you will never be enough to repay what you did. X

Having worked with Juliet for several years, I have always known her to be a committed, hard-working and dedicated educator who puts children at the heart of everything she does. When we team-taught together, it was evident just how many skills Juliet possesses. She can ensure every child is engaged in the learning, pitched to their own appropriate level of challenge and she uses humour well to provide those moments of light relief. She would always go beyond what was required in the classroom and took a real interest in the lives of her students, ensuring they were happy and healthy individuals that could thrive in the positive and nurturing environment she created. I have been able to professionally and personally benefit from training from Juliet. She has always been a trusted ‘go to’ and I have especially benefitted from her expertise in personal, social and mental health ideas and resources. She passionately drove these areas of education in our school, as well as leading on the Reading curriculum too. I know that any child, school or educator would benefit from time well spent with Juliet.

I have mentored, worked alongside and learnt from Juliet since she started her teaching career over twenty years ago. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to empathise with children, parents and her colleagues. This was obvious in the way she taught, helping the children in her class to reach their potential, overcoming difficulties in academic, social and emotional development. I always found Juliet inspirational in the way she trained others when introducing some of the many changes and challenges to the curriculum. She has a talent for taking what needs to be clarified and understood by teachers without imposing an onerous workload. When working with parents she is always careful to ensure they are aware their child matters to her. I know parents have always appreciated this. She is very experienced in collaborating with parents to help them work with their child. Juliet is always ready to go the extra mile to help parents and children.

Juliet was my daughter’s year 4 teacher. Having not long adopted our daughter, she was vulnerable & considerably behind in her learning. Juliet was wonderful. She genuinely cared for her well being, taking time to help her through some delicate situations in which she would always talk us through what was happening & checking that we were in agreement with what she proposed. Our daughter very quickly became a happy confident 8 year old. Juliet played a massive part in making that happen. Juliet really knows how to bring out the best in a child making learning fun & understanding their individual needs as well as supporting their family.

Juliet has helped my daughter tremendously whilst she was in primary school. She is brilliant in seeing the problem from a holistic point of view and offering good strategies of coping with various emotional issues. The advice and support l received as a parent allowed me to understand the difficulties of what my child was going through at that time. Based on her expertise, I felt empowered to initiate discussions at home that contributed to my daughter’s emotional wellbeing. She can now understand her emotions better, her relationships with her friends and how to approach specific age-related challenges. I highly recommend Juliet for her services. Best choice ever made and with the best outcome for my daughter.

Juliet’s vast wealth of teaching experience with a passion for Children’s learning has been a great source of help to my child in Yr5/6 and to me as a Parent. Juliet helped me as a Parent by showing me different strategies to use at home to support my child’s learning in English Comprehension/understanding vocabulary when reading-this has helped improve my child’s English and writing skills at Secondary school. My child has always found dealing with numbers challenging especially larger numbers but Juliet showed me different methods to try at home and this guidance helped alot. As a Parent I needed advice on how to support my child to deal with behaviour/conflict issues at school. Juliet I can honestly say that you have been very reassuring to me as a parent with strategies to help my child manage their emotions and behaviour at school. As a teacher you gave my child the confidence to bring out their best and express themself.

I will always be grateful for how you helped us as a family.
Thank you Wendy
